About Assam Medical College

Assam Medical College (AMC), Dibrugarh, established on November 3, 1947, holds the distinction of being the first medical college in the entire Northeastern region of India. The institution was founded with the vision to address the acute shortage of qualified medical professionals in the region and to provide accessible, quality healthcare to the population.

Over the past seven decades, AMCH has grown into a premier medical institution, recognized by the Medical Council of India (now National Medical Commission) and affiliated to Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences. The college campus spans over 250 acres and houses state-of-the-art infrastructure for both academic and hospital purposes.

5.5-year undergraduate program with 200 seats annually. Comprehensive training in basic and clinical sciences with early clinical exposure and community postings.

Hospital Services

Assam Medical College & Hospital is a 1200-bed tertiary care referral hospital providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients from across Northeast India.

Cardiology & CTVS

Advanced cardiac care unit with catheterization lab, echocardiography, and cardiac surgery facilities. Performing over 500 cardiac surgeries annually.

Neurology & Neurosurgery

Comprehensive neurological services including EEG, EMG, NCV, and advanced neurosurgical procedures with dedicated neuro-ICU.

Pediatrics & Neonatology

Level III NICU with 50 incubators, pediatric ICU, and specialized clinics. Over 5,000 deliveries managed annually with advanced neonatal care.

Radiology & Imaging

Advanced imaging services including 3T MRI, 128-slice CT scan, digital X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and interventional radiology.

Admissions Process

Admission Guidelines 2024-25

Admissions to all courses are strictly based on merit through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

  • MBBS Admission Application Start: May 15, 2024
  • Last Date for Submission: June 30, 2024
  • First Counseling Round: July 15-20, 2024
  • Academic Session Commences: August 1, 2024
